Also, buying a car that's 14 years old and has 140k on it means that it will have some minor problems. I'm guessing he didn't bother to get a PPI, or even take a close look at the car.

What car has a hotbox option?

I'm asking... uh... for a friend. Yeah, a friend.

My car was 15yo and had 180k when I got it, and it didn't have nearly that many problems. Toyota is awesome :)

Of course, he probably doesn't realize that 1998-2005 was the New Malaise Era for German cars.

I am getting so sick of the suggestion to just uniraterarry (sorry I had to) "buy Japanese" because supposedly this is the only way to have a reliable car...

My 2002 BMW and I are shocked and outraged at your statement. I'd write a letter and deliver it to you, but my CEL is on and the reverse is out on my transmission.

They have that much to spend on maintenance and are annoyed with an older cars reliability... Why not buy newer?

you didn't hear? All 2000 Saab 9-5's had the hotbox option from the factory.

Well, that's what a friend told me. A friend.

I have no idea, I JUST found out about these water surrounded islands.

Good thing peninsulas are safe from water.. Right?

Yup no car breaks that frequently unless it's had years of deferred maintenance, a good inspection shouldve caught a lot if it. Surely if the gearbox failed soon after purchase thered have been symptoms on the test drive.

I'm laughing that he put bulbs for his headlights and taillights down, and his sun visor. Because sun visors have never in the history of cars been known to break. Ever. It's not possible.

Yeah a car with this many problems would've been showing systems at the time of purchase. All on the buyers shoulders. He should've done his homework, or at least test driven the car.

Yep, also what kind of person lists bulbs as a fault, it's a consumable that you expect to change at some point.
